The Craftsman-style home design emerged from an international 19th Century artistic and architectural movement against mass-produced, factory-manufactured housing. There are four different types of Craftman-style homes, each design has remained faithful to three core Craftsman-style values: architectural simplicity, hand-crafted decorative construction, and the use of locally sourced natural materials.
1. Why did you get into real estate?
I came through the back door so to speak since I was exploring the home loan part of it to expand my business funding venture at that time. I was informed by the Mortgage Broker I met with then, that I needed to get a real estate license, so I did. I realized that while performing as both a Mortgage Loan Officer and a Realtor® , I found the real estate practice both intriguing and challenging and I got hooked.
2. What excites you about the business?
Aside from my clients, the deal itself. The negotiating part and the problem solving I just love it. These are what’s keeping this business exciting for me. Others think real estate is about finding the house – boom, the deal’s done. But that’s only part of it, in fact it is only the beginning of the transaction! Unexpected things can happen in every turn. Why? Because there are many factors and parties that could be involved in one deal – from the sellers, buyers, inspectors, contractors, title companies, banks, building and planning divisions, counties, associations and regulations, not to mention dealing with all types of personalities behind these and the emotional roller coaster that both Buyers and Sellers are going through – and I’m there right smack in the middle of it, trying to hold things together.
3. What do you consider outstanding customer service?
When the client says it is so. It’s not what I think but what ultimately the client thinks.
4. What was your best/most memorable deal?
They’re all memorable.
5. Why would clients trust you with the largest purchase they’ll ever make? Why would they hire you?
Because I’ve been there like them, as a first-time home buyer before. In spite of me the “Miss know everything” we eventually found, loved and bought our first home. Then when we were ready to sell that home, we realized that the part-time agent we worked with, missed informing us some crucial aspects of the home that was important to the home’s resale value.
Even as a third, fourth or fifth time Buyer or Seller of real estate, unless you’ve been doing this full time and for many, many transactions and situations, you’ll never be fully prepared. Smart engineers, physicians, CEOs or attorneys try not to do things they’re not well versed in and instead call in an expert. Why would they even do things themselves when it comes to real estate, which is one of the biggest investments they may have?
I say other people should do what they do best and are paid for it, and let Realtors do what they’re experts in, and be paid for it. Especially at EXP Realty ® of California, Inc. where our underlying principle is service to our clients, one can’t really go wrong choosing our service.
I've been a full time Realtor® for over 20 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've sold homes in four Counties: Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco. Each market, although drivable are different from each other.
I've heard people say that Realtors are 'masochists' and 'angels of hope and shelter' - a bit of truth in both. I was a business consultant, business funding resource, an entrepreneur, headhunter, and career coach before my real estate life which can be all-consuming but rewarding as well. ...
I've seen the market in its peak and now in its lows. I've sold condominiums to luxury homes. My transactions have been traditional regular sales, Short Sales and REO's or bank owned. I've met all kinds of sellers and buyers, lenders and escrow officers and vendors. Each transaction brings with it new 'unknowns'.
